Methodist church. Mid - late C19. Random sandstone rubble with limestone
dressings and quoins, slate roofs with raised coped verges and kneelers. West
front has gable end, gabled wooden porch on rubble plinth with double doors and
cast iron finial; 3-light window above with round heads, central light wider and
taller, outer lights divided by 3 moulded stone transoms, round head overall with
bracketted keystone. Left and right returns of 3 bays with similar 2-light
windows, glazed circle at top and plain keystone, string course above keystones.
Church room attached to rear has at right return a similar smaller 2-light window
to left and taller 2-light window to right with gable over, central door in plain
surround with pendant keystone, similar string course; at left return a similar
2-light window to right, no string course, lean-to with small 2-light round-headed
window. Rear has single, round-headed light in lean-to, 2 shaped breathers in
gable end, stone gable stack. Interior: 3-bay roof with principal rafters and
collars, carved at angles, dais to east with carved pulpit and balustrade; similar
3-bay roof to rear room. Fittings: original plain wooden pews and organ dated
1888 by Sweetland of Bath.
