Lock. c1767 with later repairs. Coursed limestone. Lock walls of large blocks
of stone. Renewed gates. Incised on the south wall at the west end are Roman
numerals indicating the water level in feet. The Lock was built following an
Act of Parliament of 1767 which specified that the lock should hold vessels
60' x 15'4" drawing 4' of water (Act of 1767, pl4).
