Circa 1780-90. Gault brick, 2 storeys. Five sash windows, the centre one of
3 lights in a slight projection. Rectangular stone stepped entrance platform
with Tower of the Winds columned open porch with corniced top enclosing a wide
6 panel door flanked by side lights, beneath a large, semi-circular 'Adam' leaded
fanlight. Simple cornice and parapet. Side elevations have 3 windows, mostly
blocked. Projecting wings to rear.
Interior retains contemporary decorations Entry hall goes from front to back
of house with rooms to east and west. Original plain balustered curved staircase.
South-east room has good carved white marble mantelpiece, with delicate corner
panels of cherubs and low relief wheatear etc. Ornament to frieze and jambs
and contemporary enriched polished steel grate with pierced valance and urns
to hobs. North-east room has similar simple mantelpiece with corner blocks ornamented
with musical trophies. Contemporary ribbed cast iron grate with hobs. South-west
room has a simpler mantelpiece of the same type with rosette corner blocks.
Early C19 cast iron grate with canted reveals to sides and top and bowed grate
bars. All rooms with contemporary cornices, shutters, dadoes etc.
