Cottage. Early C19, possible earlier origins, some later
modernisation. Pebbledashed stone rubble; end and rear lateral
stacks with brick chimneyshafts and some old pots; slate roof.
PLAN: Double-depth, 2 rooms wide with central passage and
staircase.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attics; symmetrical 3-window front.
Central doorway contains a C20 part-glazed door under a
contemporary monopitch-roofed porch. Windows are horned 4-pane
sashes with horizontal glazing bars. Central dormer with
canted front contains C20 casements without glazing bars under
a hipped roof. Parallel roof is continuous with the roofs of
the neighbouring cottages.
INTERIOR: Not inspected but likely to be of interest.
The row of cottages at Ford are built at the head of an old
creek which was the old mill pond, infilled in the early C19.
