Built probably about 1785 for Eleanor Coade, owner of Coade's Patent Artificial
Stone Manufactory at Lambeth. 2-storey stuccoed front, 5 sash windows per floor.
The ground floor windows are round-headed and have architraves with vermiculated
rustucations, ornamental impost blocks and keystones with head of Neptune over
door and heads of Amphitrite over windows. The central window space is taken
up by a 6-panel door with ornamental band, and radiating fanlight. Guilloche
band over ground floor. Plain sash windows 1st floor. Swagged frieze, cornice
parapet surmounted by 6 Adam-style urns. Vermiculated angle rusticaticns. The
whole of the enrichment is in Coade stone (RCHM Dorset, VolI); graded II* for
this reason and for the fact that it was built for Eleanor Coade.
The Lawn, Hotel Buena Vista and the north boundary walls, Tivoli Cottage, Nos l4
& l5 and Belmont form a group.
