Farmhouse. Probably late C17 - C18. Rubble, stone slate roof, end stacks,
2 room plan. Two storeys, 2 windows. Regularly spaced 3-light C19 timber
casements: one to left of door, another to right, 2-light contemporary case-
ment to first floor above right hand window; 2-light C18 leaded casement
above left hand window. Central entrance under gabled rubble porch through
moulded door frame and C18 ledged door. Left hand gable has been raised and
contains small casement under dripstone; 3-light chamfered mullioned window
to rear wall. Interior: plank and muntin screen with ledged door. Left
hand room has central beam with double ovolo moulding extending from front
to back wall, cast-iron range to end wall. Right hand room: 2 longitudinal
chamfered beams, oak window seat in deeply splayed window opening to front;
moulded stone fireplace with dropped key-stone above which is dated "1789"
to end wall; rubble stone newel stair to left of fireplace lit by two small
oak framed lights set about one third and two thirds up the flight. Upper
right hand room has cast iron c1870 fireplace. A-frame truss. Upper left
hand cell is divided longitudinally into 2 small rooms. To rear of right
hand ground floor room is a local type half-truss extension, probably a
pantry, reached by ledged door from main room. Left end wall of the extension
has 4-light diamond section oak mullioned window with 3 main mullions and
formerly 4 intermediate smaller diamond mullions.
