SALTBURN, MARSKE AND NEW MARSKE

House and cottage. Late C18, possibly incorporating earlier
fabric, altered C19 and C20. Coursed squared sandstone with
herringbone tooling; ashlar dressings; roof of concrete tiles
with stone gable copings and stone chimneys.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3-window range. Cottage at left has
renewed door in second bay with overlight and cornice;
corniced canted bay window at left. 2 sashes have projecting
painted stone sills, and stone lintels at eaves; windows C20
sashes with 2 and 4 panes. 3-bay house at right has central
6-panel door with overlight under stone lintel with long
keystone through two courses. Sash above and full-height
corniced canted bays either side, all 4-pane sashes. Roof has
stone gable copings and end, intermediate stone ridge chimneys
with plinths.
