Hop warehouse, now flats. c1880 with later additions and
alterations including conversion to flats c1976-97. Red brick in
Flemish bond with gault brick bands and dressings to windows,
ashlar voussoirs and returns in reddish-orange brick in English
bond; slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys with attic to gable, 3 bays. Pilaster strips
to ends and to either side of centre bay, with paired pilasters
to fourth storey; continuous cornices at each floor, cyma moulded
cornice to ground floor, then dentil cornices to first and second
floors and modillion cornices to third floor; wide pediment with
modillion surround. Centre bay has openings to all floors, except
attic, which are part-glazed doors; hinged platforms are
retained. Hoist bracket in attic set within glazed lunette with
round arch of gault brick.
WINDOWS: ground floor has two large semi-circular windows with
multi-pane glazing to casements and round, gauged brick arches
with alternate ashlar voussoirs, double chamfered sills. First
floor has multi-pane casements, one pair to each outer bay, with
plain lintels, plain reveals and shaped sills; tiles to aprons
have foliate motif. First floor has multi-pane casements, one

round-arched casement windows to second floor with alternating
voussoirs to gauged brick round arches. Third floor has 2-light
multi-pane casement windows between single lights to each bay
with pilasters between, those to centre visually support the
attic lunette.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Forms a significant streetscape feature, grouping with Worcester
Bridge, Bridge Street. The most architecturally elaborate
warehouse in Worcester associated with this significant regional
industry.
