Description

A good specimen of mansion house of the end of the 16th
century on the L-plan, but with some modifications, the
round tower at the south east corner being very unusual;
tower in re-entering angle of the wings forms an entrance
porch leading to a handsome staircase in the north wing with
square steps and landings 5 feet wide; hall occupies the
whole 1st floor; stair to upper floor is contained in
angle turret over entrance porch the arrangement of these
staircases and entrance porch is one of the peculiarties
so frequently introduced at this period; upper floors
divided into numerous bedrooms - parapet on south side is
unusually high and eaves unbroken by dormers.
