Probably c1800 and contemporary with the division of the house into two properties, Nos.56 and 58.
A very fine screen of wrought iron garden railings, with, at centre, two gatepiers, double gates with swept top rail (No.58) and curved lamp overthrow with scrolls, and delicate lamp bracket. Smaller gate on the left for No.56. Spear head railings with dwarf stone wall and dog-bars.
Included and highly graded for its special interest as exceptional ironwork in the Monmouth town centre and for its association with one of the finest individual houses.
