Hotel, C1840-50. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, quoins and
lintels. Hipped slate roof. 2-storey, 3 bays to Station Road,
centre bay slightly broken forward and quoined, and with Tuscan
portico over pair half-glazed doors and fanlight. Left bay with
bar frontage on Wellington Street corner; Tuscan pilasters, fascia
and moulded cornice. 2-pane sashes with etched glass. Tiled
corner. Plat band. On first floor 16-pane sashes with splayed
lintels and keystones. Block dentils and wide eaves. Return to
Wellington Street of 3 bays, similar but Gibbsian pilasters to
central ground floor window and doors to end bay. Left extension.
