House, now American Community School. Early C18, altered and encased in mid C19
with C20 extensions. Rendered with hipped slate roofs. Rendered stacks, 2 to left
and to centre rear. 2 storeys over basement with square bracket eaves band.
Main front: 7 bays, centre three projecting in pedimented break, "bulls eye" window
in tympaneum of pediment, glazing bar sash windows in projecting architrave surrounds
to first and ground floors, arched windows in basement. Double ¾ glazed doors in
moulded surround to centre behind 4 Doric columned, single storey, balustraded
portico across the centre three bays on rusticated plinth with flight of 7 steps.
Left hand return front: Angle bay window with tripartite glazing bar sash window to
ground floor.
Garden front: 9 bays , outer ones recessed, with steep pediment to recessed centre
bay. Glazing bar sash windows in projecting architrave surrounds with cill brackets
to outer first floor bays, centre tripartite sash window. Ground floor angle bay
windows either side of central casments and to ends containing arched window to
front of bay with husk garland surround and ribbon decoration in spandrels. 2 storeys
to C20 extension on left.
Interior: some ground floor rooms with Adam style moulded ceilings , Ionic pilasters
to ground floor room right, broken pediments to doorcases.
