Almshouse row. Circa 1929 by Maurice Webb. Red brick with plain tiled roofs, centre
and end ridge stacks, brick coping to gables. Symmetrical, 5 bays ABCBA built on
a curve. Parapets to outer and centre bays. One 3-light sash window in each bay,
one either side of arched opening in centre bay. Recessed entrances to either side
of dividing brick pier, with planked doors to sides. 2 steps to left, 3 on right
with iron rails up to the entrance. Central stone plaque to gable ,dated 1929.
Chestnur crescent was added to the original octagonal plan of Whiteley village
with the buildings in similar style.
