Description

CAMBRIDGE

667/0/10140 The Lodge and gatepiers and gates at C
19-SEP-02 herry Hinton Hall

GV II

Lodge with gatepiers and gates. 1839 with later extensions. For John Okes. Gault brick with stone dressings and plain-tile roof with ornamental brick stacks with single and double flues. Tudor style with stone-coped gables with kneelers. Single storey. Front to road has 2 gables facing, each with a 3-light casement, and a probable infill between with door and 2-light casement. Lean-to on right end. Left end faces gates and drive and has 2-light casement, projecting porch with doorway, now blocked, and gable to left with present entrance. Further casements to rear. Interior not inspected. Gault brick gatepiers have recently been rebuilt but retain their original moulded stone tops and pair of elaborate cast-iron gates.
The lodge is in a similar style to Cherry Hinton Hall (qv) and together with the gatepiers and gates form a prelude to, and group with, it.
