Red Gates and adjacent cottage.

Pair of cottages, built as one house probably in C16 or early C17. 1 storey and attics. Probably 3-cell cross-passage entrance plan. Timber-framed and plastered. Concrete tiled roof (formerly thatched), with C19 monopitch casement dormers. C17 axial chimney of red brick, and an C18/C19 external end chimney at service end to right added C18/C19. 3 boarded entrance doors; that at the cross-passage position having a small C19 porch with carved bargeboards and slender turned posts. Interior not examined.
