Former almshouses, now flats. Late C19 in Gothic style. Built of flint with
red brick dressings and tiled roof. Comprises two 2-storey wings linked by
3-storey elaborate tower and former separate house (possibly a warden's house
originally) now linked by modern wall. Left hand portion has end chimney
stack with terracotta chimney-pots. First floor has 3 pointed and latticed
casements in gabled dormers and ground floor has 3 latticed casements with
hood moulding mainly retaining corbels. Central tower of 3 storey with
octagonal corner turret and crenellated parapet. Turret has 2 stone bands and
lancet windows. 2 Floor to right of turret has one 4 light window with
mullions and transomes. 1st floor has two windows one 2-light and ground floor
has right side pointed archway with stone shield above with motto 'crom a boo'
the Fitzgerald family motto. Chimneys to left and right have 6 elaborate
terracotta chimneypots. To the right is a 2-storey wing with 4 brick dormers
with lattice casement to first floor and hood mouldings which have lost their
corbels. End right ground floor windows are C20. Further right linked by a
modern brick wall is the former warden's house. Late C19. Faced with flint
with red brick dressings and tiled roof with tall end brick stacks. First
floor has 3 casements now mainly C20 aluminium in the gables. Central window
has shield with the motto 'crom a boo'. Ground floor windows have hood
moulding and corbels. Central arched doorway with hood moulding on brackets
now built in.
