Shown on 0.S. map as Park Hospital.
Workhouse, now hospital. c.1855. Brick with slate roof. Cross-shape plan. 2 and
3 storeys. Central octagon of 3 storeys and one-window range to alternate faces.
some with arch heads. Conical roof with central stack. Radiating wings
originally 2 storeys. 5-window range, some retaining arch head windows with
cast-iron glazing bars. Gabled roof. Each wing terminates in square block of 3
storeys. 3-window range of similar style with pyramid roofs. Raised brick string
courses to all elevations at springing of window arches. West block has weather
vane. Sane C19 and C20 alterations to windows. Various late C19 buildings
attached are not of special architectural interest.
