GV II

Gate lodge. Late C18, probably extended late C19. Colourwashed limestone ashlar
and brick; Welsh-slate roof with stone stacks. T-plan. Single storey. Projecting
pedimented central range has 2 Greek Doric columns in antis and a recessed
glazed doorway with architrave. The main entablature returns to the sides which
each have a 12-pane sash with architrave flanked by pilasters. The roof slopes
are continued over the wider rear section which has 2 similar sashes flanking
the central range. The side and rear walls are brick and are probably later.
Interior not inspected. The gates were formerly the principal entrance to
Nuneham Park.
(Nuneham Park is included in the HBMC County Register of Gardens at Grade I).
