House. Early C19 with later C19 south wing and north extension.
Painted and yellow brick with masonry dressing. Hipped slate roofs.
'T' shape plan. The early block is 2 storeys, 2 bays. The later wing
is 2 storey plus attics, 3 bays. The south facade has a central door
surrounded by a porch with brick sunk panels, moulded semi-circular
arch with impost mouldings and a masonry keystone. Balcony above with
pierced stone balustrading. Sash windows throughout with rubbed brick
and masonry Italianate arches. The first floor central window has
smaller flanking sash windows to the width of the balcony. Heavy
eaves cornice constructed from decorated bricks which continues over
the semi-circular arches of the attic windows. Central belvedere with
pierced balustrading and scroll buttresses. The principal feature in the
early block is the late C19 large open staircase with cast-iron balusters.
The west room has a fine plaster egg and dart cornice and arch supported
on Renaissance Ionic columns.
