Former house now flats with C15 undercroft. Former house:- C17 with partly
rebuilt C20 gable and rear outbuilding. Roughcast on flint rubble walls,
plaster quoins and black pantile roof. 2 storeys plus cellar. 3 bays.
Central door with simple timber surround. Sash windows throughout with flat
arches and surrounds in plaster. Box cornice. Off-centre dormer with sash
window and small sloping dormer to left. Undercroft:- Brick. T-shape plan
partly beneath the C17 building. Single-order diagonal and cross ribs
springing from wall piers. Wall arches and lighting niches. Original
entrances evident in the south-east corner of the west range and in the north
wall of the north/south range. One groin-vaulted bay beneath pavement. The
building is grade II* because of the undercroft which forms part of an impor-
tant group within the City Walls.
