House and cottage. House (No. 1 Lower Farm) is early C18, refurbished early C20.
Coursed rubble limestone with dressed quoins and window jambs; stone slate roof;
rubble stone chimney stacks to left and centre with C20 white brick shafts.
Lobby entry plan with rear stair turret. 2 storeys and attic, 2 bays. C20
3-light barred wooden casements with wooden lintels, the left bay also having a
gabled roof dormer with 2-light casement, the right bay with small skylight.
Central old board door with wooden lintel; blocked doorway in right gable end.
Attached to right gable end is a small single-storey range of C19 former
outbuildings. Rear of main house has similar casements to front, door to right,
and central gabled stair turret. Dodge's Cottage, to left, is probably C17, in 2
builds. Coursed rubble limestone with stone slate roof and white brick chimney
to left. One storey and attic, 2 bays. Ground floor of right bay has C19-C20
3-light barred wooden casement, C20 half-glazed door and semi-circular oven
projection to right. Later C20 2-light wooden casements to ground floor left and
in 3 gabled eaves-line dormers. All ground floor openings have wooden lintels.
Left gable end has door recessed behind re-sited 4-centred stone arch.
