House, latterly workhouse, now 2 houses. Late C16 with C19 partial
refacing and C20 additions to left and rear. Timber framed, partly
rendered, C19 painted coursed limestone refacing to left, and graded
slate roof. Possibly former open hall of 2 framed bays to left with 2
framed bay gabled cross wing projecting to right. Framing: square
panels, 4 up to wall plate; cross wing with jettied first floor
resting on end brackets; decorative herringbone framing in first floor
and in gable, refaced with planted timbers in the C20. 2 storeys.
Central rendered ridge stack. C20 metal casements, one 2-light on
each floor to left and one 3-light on each floor of cross wing. 4 steps
up to boarded door in angle of cross wing with C19 hipped slate-roofed
timber porch. One storey lean-to to left. Entrance to No.24 at rear.
