3/32 Beech Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Early-to-mid C17, with late C18 or early C19 facade, and
with additions of circa 1864. Timber framed. Ground floor chequered
red and grey brick to main range, buff brick to left wing and right
end, first floor tile-hung. Plain tile roof. Lobby entry plan. Flush
cross-wing of circa 1864 to left and single bay of similar date to
right end. 2 storeys. C19 gable-end jetty to right. Left cross-wing
gabled to front and rear. Main range roof hipped to right. Rear
gable end stack to left wing, ridge stack to left of centre of main
range and two slender projecting rear stacks to right. Irregular
fenestration of 5 windows; one 16-pane sash to left wing, one three-
light casement to left of stack, one two-light casement beneath
stack, and one three-light and one two-light casement to right.
Blocked doorway under stack. Ribbed door in gabled brick porch to
left end of main range. Shallow circular niche, possibly for a clock
face, to gable of C19 wing. Interior: exposed framing, with
chamfered beams and gunstock-jowled posts. Plain brick fireplace in
English bond, with chamfered bresumer, to left, and blocked
fireplace to first floor above. Stairs behind stack. C19 clasped-
purlin roof.
