Needle Obelisk at NGR ST559 129

Obelisk. Circa 1775. Rough cut and coursed local stone with dressed stone cap. Square on plan, slender and sharp pointed; about 2 metres square on base and approximately 12 metres high. Flat stone set in South faces about 4 metres high, but no inscription evident.

The South boundary marker, one of four of the Barwick Park estate, probably erected by John Newman. (Barbara Jones, Follies and Grottoes, Constable 1974.)
