Probably house and shop, now shop with offices over. Mid C18,
possibly with earlier origins and with later additions and
alterations including probably early C19 stuccoing and ground
floor shop front probably restored late C19.
MATERIALS: Stucco over brick with old plain tile roof, hipped to
front and pinkish brown brick left stack, cast iron brackets.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 3 first floor windows. First and second
floors have 6/6 sashes where original, in near flush frames and
with sills. Crowning modillion eaves cornice. Ground floor has
shop front with outer pilasters, shaped fascia and modillion
cornice, glazed windows with turned mullions and on panelled
apron and off centre left part glazed entrance with fanlight.
Above shop front cornice are 4 Art Nouveau style scrolled
brackets.
INTERIOR: ground floor renewed, otherwise not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: 'By the sixteenth century, Broad Street was
second only to High Street in commercial importance. On the
direct route through the city from the (Worcester) Bridge (qv),
it contained the business premises of a number of important
traders and at least two inns'. Several houses on Broad Street
are known to have C17 and earlier origins (Nos 32, 40, 41 and 57
(qqv)). All the listed buildings in Broad Street form a
significant group: Nos 10, 10A, 11 and the Crown Inn, 12, 18, 19,
29, 32-36 (consecutive), 40, 41, 43-49 (consecutive), 51-63
(consecutive), 69, 70 and Church of All Saints (qqv). Nos 69 and
70 also form a group with Nos 31 and 32 The Cross and with Nos
61-65 (consecutive) High Street (qqv). (Hughes P: No.57 Broad
