LONDON ROAD (north east side)
Angier chest tomb about 16m north east of the chancel of the Church of St John


Chest tomb. Probably late 1860s. Portland stone. C17 style with some Gothic
detail. Rectangular chest tomb on a plinth with a coped, moulded, oversailing
lid. Moulded diagonal balusters at each corner in a C17 manner. Inscription
panels on the long sides with cusped Gothic frames. The earliest inscription
commemorates Abigail Angier, died 1862.

One of the earlier churchyard monuments.
