SD 51 NE CHORLEY ASTLEY PARK

5/25 Stable block to Astley Hall

Stable block, probably later C18. Brick with stone plinth and
stone dressings, hipped stone slate roof. L shaped plan.
Facade nine bays and 2 storeys, symmetrical; pedimented centre
breaks forward slightly, has a 1st floor band broken by 2-storey
round-headed arch (upper levels glazed with small panes), flanked
on both floors by tall windows with glazing bare, and in the
pediment a bullseye similarly glazed; 3 tall ground floor windows
and 3 1st floor bullseyes each side of the centre, all with small
panes. Left return wall has segmental headed wagon door and 3
bullseyes.
