Nos 37 to 42 (consec)
SP 0685 NW 41/15 1.8.79

2.
Circa 1835-40, a small scale 2 storey stucco terrace of 2 bay houses with
Grecian details treated as one symmetrical composition. Plinth and first
floor sill band. The end and centre bays (the latter broader) are flanked
by pilasters on both floors. The end bays have coupled pilasters on ground
floor, with linked capping and 2 wreaths in frieze below sill band, but at
first floor level they combine to form one broad pilaster with 2 wreaths above
the capping. In the centre the pilasters are the same on both floors, single
wreath in ground floor frieze and 2 in frieze above first floor. Channelling
is struck into central carriage archway and as voussoirs to lintels of flanking
house doors. Moulded cornice overall, broken forward over the pilasters with
blocking course raised as block pediments in line. Fenestration consists
of revealed glazing bar sashes on first floor whilst on ground floor rectangular
bay windows with arched centre lights and bracketed cornices, were inserted
circa 1900. Splayed eaved architrave doorways except for centre flanking
carriage arch where they are plainly revealed, No 39 retaining marginal glazed
rectangular fanlight.
