2 houses, now 2 shops with a flat over. Late C16 or early C17. Brick
fronts added in C18 and early C19 in 3 stages (that to No. 12 has 'JC
183?' on upper window jamb: LH of No. 13 C18). Timber frames, infilled
with red brick at rear, faced in brick at front, now painted except
upper floor of No. 12. Higher S flank of No. 12 slate-hung. No. 12 slate
roof with plastered eaves soffit, No. 13 steep old red tile roofs. No.
12 of 2 storeys with 2 windows on each floor and central roundheaded
doorway now converted to a window and door inserted in LH window. RH
window a shallow canted bay window with sashes. 2 recessed sash windows
over with flat gauged arches, stone sills and 8/8 panes. No. 13 is
lower, 2-storeys and 3 windows on each floor. Corbelled eaves courses
immediately over 3-light nearly flush casement windows. LH C18 with
rectangular leaded glazing and central iron casement, others C19 with
divided lights. Entrance at LH linked with fascia to early C19 canted
bay shop window. Larger central shop window and small one on RH with
cambered arch above. 2-storeys gabled rear wings with exposed frames and
casement windows. Interior of upper part has exposed frame and
clasped-purlin roofs. (RCHM Typescript).
