Public house. Late C17 rebuiling of probably C16 structure, with mid-C19 alterations and additions. Timber-framed refaced with painted brick, slate and plain tiled roofs behind high parapet with raised panels like shaped gables, large brick stacks to ridges and at rear. Two storeys and cellar with cogged eaves cornice; four plus two bays.

Front elevation: four-bay part at left has a lobby-entry plan; regular fenestration, windows have gauged flat heads, moulded architraves and 16-pane sashes; the first floor window of the second bay is blocked and beneath is the doorway, open pediment, fluted pilasters and six-panelled door with four raised panels and blind segmental fanlight. The two-bay part is taller and the shaped parapet panels have embrasures between them and an additional cogged course at the base of each; the two cogged courses are mitred around the clasping pilasters to the front and right side elevation; windows are 16-pane sashes with gauged flat heads and moulded architraves except for left bay first floor window which is a 12-pane sash; beneath is the main entrance, which has a moulded flat canopy, fret-moulded pilasters, C20 panelled door and barred transom light.

The right side elevation has a small, central bay window of almost two-storey height projecting between the ground and first floor windows; it has a parapet, shaped gable above with blind loophole, cogged eaves course and blind mullion and transom window.

Interior: much altered.

Mid-C19 additions at rear.
