Farmhouse. c1600, redmodelled late C19 after a fire. Painted brick but
retaining a timber-framed gable end wall with rendered infill; plain tiled
roofs. Main three-bay part aligned north/south, north gable end of which
is timber-framed, south gable end has external chimney with offsets; two
parallel rear wings, northernmost wing having large chimney and brick ridge
stack. Two storeys and attic with dentilled eaves cornice. Framing: gable
end has close-set vertical studding on ground floor and three rows of square
panels on the first floor with long straight braces across the upper corners;
collar and tie-beam truss has two collars, five struts to lower collar and
two to upper collar with decorative additional struts and V-strut in apex.
East front elevation: regular arrangement; two ground-and two first-floor
3-light casement windows, ground-floor ones have cambered heads; central
first-floor window is blind; central entrance has a gabled timber-framed
porch with trellis infill and a 6-panelled door, the upper four panels of
which are glazed. North gable end has tiled weatherings between storeys,
a 3-light ground-and first-floor casement and an attic light. Interior has
some stop-chamfered main beams. Roof is C19.
