Bridge about 280 yards north of Downton Castle (that part in Leintwardine CP)

Bridge over Stone Brook. Circa 1861. Roughly coursed sandstone rubble with
sandstone dressings. Aligned north-north-east/south-south-west. West
elevation has single span flat two-centred arch of two chamfered orders dying
into tall jambs. The arch is flanked by embattled angled refuges supported
on corbels. To either bank is a small arch with a two-centred head. To the
right is a weathered buttress. Several loops. Moulded string beneath gabled
parapet. At the south end is a pair of octagonal piers with pyramidal cappings
from which return to east and west two stepped walls. North end of eastern
parapet curves in broad north-easterly sweep. The west parapet curves into
the adjacent Lodge (qv). Downton Castle is in Downton CP (See also under
Downton CP).
