No 30 is c1690, remodelled interior and exterior of circa 1780. Large house
of three storeys in red brick with slate roof. Five windows, all reglazed
in plate glass, near flush frames. Second floor is an early C19 addition with
wood eaves cornice reused. Flat arched heads to windows, gauged bricks used
at second floor, stone cills. Centre doorway with 'Adam' style wood case,
with panelled pilasters with enriched caps, set in plain wood background.
Delicate architrave, frieze broken over pilasters and enriched with urns.
Centre urn and two vases with pendant and trailing husks. Dentil pediment.
6-panel door reset in added entrance in lieu of window. Principal staircase
late C18, open string, slender columnar balusters. Stair hall has Adam-type
plaster ceiling with garlands of husks, dentilled eaves cornice with fluted
(modillion sized) consoles. Three fine joinery doorcases on landing, with
fluted friezes, dentilled cornices, and paterae flanking frieze. Another such
doorcase in hall. One ground floor room with moulded plaster cornice ornamented
by ostrich feathers. Back staircase of c1690, closed moulded string and
pulvinated frieze, plain newels with ball finials, plain handrails, vase-shaped
balusters. No 32 is late C18 with alterations. Two storeys in painted brick
with pantile roof and moulded brick eaves cornice. First floor three windows,
centre now blocked. Ground floor three windows with later glazing bars. Two
gabled dormers.
