Milepost. 1825. Cast iron. Half hexagonal with fluted faces and domed cap.
Central face has date. To left face a panel reading: "SHAP/7/MILES" to right
face a panel reading: "KENDAL/9/MILES". Placed on the route of the Heron Syke
to Eamont Bridge turnpike road established in 1820s replacing earlier route over
Shap Fell.
