5/98 No 1 (Orchard House),
No 2 (Orchard Cottages)
II

Two cottages in row. Orchard House mid-late C17. No 2, Orchard
Cottages, late C17-early C18. Coursed squared limestone rubble to
facades with large dressed quoins. Asbestos tiles to Orchard
House, stone slate roof to No 2 Orchard Cottages. Former stone
stacks now repaired, one in artificial stone the others in brick.
Rectangular plan with Orchard House at centre aid No 2 Orchard
Cottages right. No 1 Orchard Cottages, left of Orchard House and
lean-tos at rear of Orchard House and No 2 Orchard Cottages not of
special interest. Orchard House; two storey, 2-windowed facade
all double-chamfered 2-light stone-mullioned casements with
horizontal glazing bars. Central gabled projecting porch with
trefoil-headed entrance and multi-facetted finial. C19 beaded
plank door within rectangular surround inside porch. No 2 Orchard
Cottages faces north; 2 storey, 2-windowed facade, all flat-
chamfered stone-mullioned casements with access via C20 plank door
within C20 lean-to porch.
