14/37 Ivy Cottage

II

Formerly 2 houses, now detached house. Mid-late C17; late C18
addition; mid C19 alterations. Random rubble limestone, mostly
roughcast rendered; stone slate, Welsh slate and pantile roofs;
rebuilt brick chimneys. Two-storey with attic; single-storey with
attic addition to west to form L-plan. South side: gable end of
main C17 house to right, single-window fenestration. Central
doorway with timber lintel, plank door and C20 gabled porch; C20
casement to right. C19 3-light chamfered mullioned upper floor
casement; 2-light to attic, both with hoodmoulds. Central
segmental-arched doorway in C18 additon to left; C19 2-light
casement to left. C20 conservatory porch is not of special
interest. East side: 2-window fenestration, 3-light mullioned
casements to ground floor with hoodmoulds, 2-light above. North
side: projecting chimney stack to gable end of C17 house to left;
2-light casement to rear of C18 addition. West side of C17 house
has mullioned windows blocked internally, and concealed externally
by roughcast render.
Interior: C17 dog-leg staircase. Timber framed partition on upper
floor has doorway with segmental-arched door head. All beams have
stepped chamfer stops. Stone spiral stair in west end of C18
addition.
