Stowe Cottage

II

Former weaver's house, now small detached house. c1790. Brick
with pebbledash render; ashlar dressings; brick chimney; stone
slate and corrugated asbestos roofs. Three-storey with attic;
single-storey with attic part on south side. Tall with single
keyed Venetian window on each floor to east side; oculus in gable.
C20 louvred shutters to lower 2 windows, all fitted with iron
casements except C20 metal casement to ground floor. C20 flat-
roofed addition to lower part of house to left. Central middle
floor casement with stone surround on north side; small off-centre
ground floor casement with C20 glazed door to left. Brick gable-
mounted chimney on west side. Simple square room on each floor
lit by Venetian window formerly containing hand loom. A weaver's
house of unusual architectural pretension.
