Includes No 2 (Empress Cottages) Highgate Lane. C1840. Gothic Revival irregular
block, of severe Jacobean flavour. 2 storeys, with some ground floor
outshots. Steep red tile roof with many gables; prominent chimney stacks
with raking offsets. Red brick walling in Monk bond above first floor
projecting band, Flemish bond below.

Casements, some with mullions and transoms, in chamfered reveals, tile cills;
diamond leaded lights surviving in part. Ground floor enriched by open
porches, elaborate hood to window, bays with tile roofing. Prominent corner
site, at junction with Highgate Lane.
