Lych gate to Church of All Saints

GV II

Lych gate. Dated 1897. Portland stone ashlar and timber frame,
tiled pyramidal roof. A square pyramidal roof with small
terminal wood cross, carried on a central pair of transverse
beams and 4 struts to the hip rafters. The beams are on paired
posts with traceried top and small balusters at the bottom,
flanked by X-form supports on a plate to the low stone wall
with chamfered coping and square ends. The timbers are all
framed and pegged. A pair of wood gates with turned baluster
rails, and a short stone bench on stone brackets each side
within. The transverse beams each have AD 1897 inscribed.
