Old Custom House

GV II

Pair of houses. c1825. Converted to one house mid C20 and
altered internally 1985. Red brick under a pantiled roof. 2
storeys. 2-window range. Pair of central C20 glazed doors with
late C19 timber doorcases. One 2/2 horned sash right and left
under gauged skewback arches. 2 similar sashes to first floor,
without the gauged arches. Between them is a recessed oval
inscription panel inscribed: `Old Custom House'. Gabled roof
with internal gable-end stacks right and left. Side passage to
north given a sloping roof in C20 and a new door in 1985. The
rear elevation with a late C20 single-storeyed extension,
mixed sashes and C20 casements and an arched early C19 window
with narrow leaded panes.
INTERIOR: no features of interest. Various dividing walls
removed in 1985. Included for group value.
