Description

KINGSKERSWELL NORTH WILBOROUGH
SX 86 NE
3/178 Ye Old Thatched Cottage
GV II

Cottage, may originally have been a barn. Probably C18, much altered in C20.
Rendered rubble/cob walls. Gable ended thatched roof. 2 gable end stacks : the
left hand one is late C20 rubble, the right-hand one is rendered brick.
The lack of early stacks and interior features suggest that this may originally have
been a non-domestic building. Considerably remodelled internally in C20, at present
2 main rooms.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front of late C20 2-light casements with glazing
bars. 2 C20 leanto porches to left and right of centre, the left-hand one has a C20
plank and part glazed door, the right-hand one is open-fronted with a C20 glazed
door behind.
Interior inaccessible at time of survey appears to be completely modernised with no
early features visible. The roof structure may be of interest.
