NORTH TAWTON THE SQUARE, North Tawton

Pair of houses, No. 11 incorporates shop. Early C19. Plastered walls. Slate
roof, gabled to left, hipped to right end. 2 brick stacks, one at left gable end,
one axial.
Plan: double depth, No. 10 is single fronted with entrance passage to the right.
N. 11 to right is 2 rooms wide with a shop at the front, its right-hand end on first
and second floors extends over carriageway.
Exterior: 3 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front - 1 window to No. 10 - of
original 16-pane hornless sashes. Adjoining doorcases to left of centre with
pilasters and moulded cornices. 4-panel door to No. 10 original 6-panel door to No.
11. Shopfront to its right with C20 window inserted. Entrance to courtyard at
right-hand end over which first and second floors of No. 11 extend.
