incorporating Post Office

Pair of cottages with post office at right-hand end. C17 possibly with earlier
origins. Rendered and colour-washed cob walls. lipped thatched roof. Rubble
lateral stack with brick shaft at rear of left-hand end. Axial brick stack.
Plan: Original plan unclear, may have originated as one house. At present both
cottages appear to have a 2-room plan with the Post Office occupying the room at the
right-hand end.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4 window front: Lark Rise to the left has a late
C19 or early C20 2-light small-paned casement to right and 1 light C20 casement
below. Late C19 or early C20 thatched porch to left witn C20 plank door. Pippin
Cottage has late C19 or early C20 small-paned 2-light casements. Thatched porch at
centre with C20 plank door. Post Office has C20 part-glazed door at right-hand end.
Interior inaccessible at time of survey but likely to contain features such as
ceiling beams and open fireplaces, possibly with an early roof structure.
