10/50 Cadbury Cottage
House. Mid C19. Plastered stone rubble, maybe with some brick dressings; stone
rubble stacks topped with C19 brick; slate roof.
Plan: 2-room plan house with central entrance hall and staircase facing onto Fore
Street to the north. A tall carriageway runs through the property to left (east)
and there is a third first floor chamber above it. This third chamber is heated by
a gable-end stack. The other main rooms are served by one or more rear lateral
stacks. 2 storeys.
Exterior: 3-window front of original sash windows, those on the ground floor are
larger and 16-pane sashes and those on the first floor are 12-pane sashes. To left
are large mid C19 double plank doors with wrought iron strap hinges to the
carriageway. There is a window above. The remaining 2-window section is
symmetrical about a central front doorway, a mid C19 6-panel door with overlight
. under a low segmental arch. The roof is gable-ended to left and to right it runs
continuously with that of contemporary Cadbury House (q.v) adjoining on that side.
Interior: not inspected although the well-preserved exterior suggests the survival
of a great deal of original joinery detail.
Cadbury Cottage was undoubtedly built with the major refurbishment of adjoining
Cadbury House (q.v.). Both form part of a group of listed buildings in the vicinity
of the Church of All Saints (q.v.).
