House. C18. Red brick, the upper floor a C20 addition in poorer quality brick. Classical-Gothick mixture in style. Single storey to main elevation, two storeys to return. Plinth and parapet, with stacks to left and to right. Projecting centre piece with pilasters and open brick pediment, containing large semi-circular arched recess, with traceried lunette over boarded door and two Y-traceried glazing bar sashes, all in pointed arched surrounds. Smaller arched recesses to left and to right with similar sashes, with two arches and similar sashes to left return, right return with added porch and glazing bar sash. The upper sections of walling create an unfortunate box-like appearance with inappropriate casements on return elevation first floors. The building no doubt pre-dates Sir John Herscliel's purchase of nearby Collingwood House in 1840, after whom the building is named.
