SX84NW Barn immediately north
5/73 west of Hansel Cottage

GV II

Bank barn. Probably C17 or C18, heightened in C19. Local slate rubble.
Slurried slate roof with gabled ends.
Plan: Rectangular on plan. Situated on steeply sloping site and built into
back at right-hand (south west) end with a doorway at that end for access to
the loft. In the C19 the roof was raised.
Exterior: 2 storeys. South east elevation has wide loft doorway above and
small window to loft. North west rear elevation has doorway at centre with
small window either side and loft window above. No openings in lower north
east end. The higer right-hand (south west) end has wide loft drawing with
timber lintel and C20 plank double doors.
Interior not inspected, but C19 soft-wood scissor braced trusses were
observed.
