SP 82 NE STOKE HAMMOND GRAND UNION CANAL

3/69 Lock 23 (Talbot's Lock)

GV II

Canal lock Circa 1800. Brick retaining walls with stone
coping. 2 pairs of gates with sluices and winding gear the quoins
dated 1863 and 1866. 2 cast iron bollards. Brick steps at N.
end. One side pond with sluice and winding gear. Duck pond to south
of lock-keeper's cottage was originally a side pond but has been
too altered to be included.
