Mainly a C16 timber-framed and plastered house with a jettied upper storey although
part of the house is said to date from 1480-1490. A plaster head on the centre
of the 1st storey is said to have been either a representation of Anne Boleyn
with whom the house may have had connections, or the sign of an earlier inn,
possibly called the Angel. 2 storeys. 4 window range, casements. The 1st storey
windows have some old leaded lights. The ground storey windows have glazing
bars, with small panes (one is an oriel bay). A 6-panel door has a moulded
architrave and there is a cart entrance at the south end. Roof tiled.

All the listed buildings from No 19 to No 41 on the west side and
No 4 to No 20 on the east side form a group with Bawn Cottage, Bawn Close.
Also the listed buildings form No 37 to No 89 (with Nos 57, 61, 61A)
on the west side form a group with No 24 to No 56A on the east side.
