Originally a c16 timber-framed and plastered building altered in the C17 and
c18. Circa 1691 it was owned by John Maysent and was known as the Queen's Head Inn, a calling place for goods waggons travelling from London to East Anglia. A wing extending west at the rear is Cl6 and the front wing is C17 refaced in the C18 with a plastered brick front with a parapet, a dentilled cornice and rusticated quoins. 2 storeys, attics and cellars. 5 window range, double-hung sashes with glazing bars, in plain reveals, with keystones. A raised band runs between the storeys. A centra16~panel door with 4 upper panels glazed has
a semi-circular fanlight with radial glazing and a wood Roman Doric doorcase
with panelled reveals, cabled columns and an open pediment. Roof tiled, mansard, half-hipped at the north end, with 3 sloping roofed dormers.
