Description

WEYMOUTH

SY6778SE RODWELL ROAD
873-1/27/256 (West side)
14/06/74 No.36

GV II

House at end of row. Late C18. Red brick in Flemish bond, with
rubble in right gable wall, below the gable level; slate roof.
A small but characteristic C18 house, with mansard double roof
with central valley, somewhat dwarfed by later adjacent
building of the C19.
2 storeys and attic, 3 windows; 2 raking dormers with replica
lights above plain sashes to stone sills, at ground floor to
fine rubbed voussoirs, and at first floor to a cornice above a
broad flat frieze. To the left, in C20 glazed gabled porch, a
6-panel door under an arch with plain fanlight. Coped parapet
above rendered blocking course, and to the right 2 broad gable
stacks joined by coped parapet. The rear has a single raking
dormer above a replica sash, and a low gabled wing. Probably a
remnant from a former row or terrace.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
